Cam4’s hangout cam — public for its own sake. You can watch the whole night without spending a thing. Chat’s free too, once you’ve made a free account. Tokens are optional. Buy them if you want a tip, a gift, or a Private Show. Private’s per minute. Default’s 24 tokens, spy’s 6. Face is optional. Their models site still says you don’t even have to show your face.

Gold’s the other optional layer. Three winks a day if you want to ping someone after they go offline, or skip the tax. Password rooms need Gold on their side. You don’t need any of that to sit in public.

CAM4 models site

What it is

Cam4’s a live webcam sex platform that still acts like a late apartment more than a club. Official copy on cam4models is almost boring about it. Cam models use their webcams to broadcast live to an audience. Then they chat and interact. What’s interesting is what they leave out. You can sit there and get off without buying anything. They can keep the camera on a body and they won’t give you a face. Regulars still tip. I still come.

The models site is 18+ and they say the quiet part out loud about the face. Hoodie up. Mask on. Camera on a chest, a toy, a bed, a dick that never looks at the lens. I’ve gotten off on rooms that felt like a stranger left a door cracked. Not a bug. That’s the product.

Legal-page footers still name Tropistream Corporation NV. Copyright 2007–2026. Wikipedia says June 2007, France. A Gold charge might print GRANITY ENTERTAINMENT on a card statement. Canadian direct deposit can show GRANITY MEDIA INC. Some U.S. deposits print TLE OPPORTUNITIE DIR DEP. Billing names. Not a second founding myth.

A free account is a username, a password, an email, a verify click. Username maxes at twelve characters and they don’t want your real name in it. Then you’re in the grid with a handle. Studios exist — support’s got a master-account path and a business-document list — but most of what I sit in is still one person, one laptop, one lamp that should’ve been off an hour ago.

How it works

They call them Tokens. That’s from their 12 August 2015 performers blog, and it’s still the word on the site. You don’t need tokens to watch. You need them if you want the bar to jump, a gift to land, a game to fire, or a private to start ticking.

A tip’s just tokens, whatever amount you pick. Hits an on-screen bar. Beeps. Adds to Your Earnings. Gifts are virtual presents. They’ve got a token value. Anyone can send or receive them. You can’t cash the gift tokens out unless the account’s approved. Public broadcast’s the default shape. Go live. Talk. Run a tip menu if you’ve got one. Sit in a niche. Let people wander in. Some names in chat show a coin because they spent tokens in the last two weeks, or they’ve got at least one sitting in the balance. Token Holder Indicator’s small gossip. I use it the way you glance at who’s actually drinking at the bar.

Private Shows are the paid door off that public hang. FAQ’s blunt. You pay per minute until you end it or you run out of tokens. Exclusive chat. Request sits under the feed. Either side can click End. Spy’s optional — watch, no talk. They can flip Private and Spy on or off whenever they want. Rates they actually published: 12 tokens a minute with 6 for spy, 18 plus 6, 24 plus 6, 24 plus 12, 30 plus 6, 30 plus 12. Default’s 24 and 6. I don’t take a rate someone typed in chat as gospel. Site already printed a menu.

Password Private Rooms are a different lock. Broadcasters with Gold can open a show only people with the password get into. That’s not a paid Private Show hanging off a public feed. Closed room. And you can’t do it on the C4 Broadcaster app, which matters if you broadcast from your phone and thought the lock traveled with you.

Offline Private Shows — OPS — that’s the booking layer for when the person you wanted is dark. You request inside the windows they set. Notifications can hit browser, email, SMS, or the C4 app. Guests and anonymous can’t see OPS at all. Pricing’s by duration blocks, not the live per-minute menu. First night I’d have told you the grid was the whole site. Whole booking product. Just invisible, because I hadn’t made an account.

Messenger’s the other private. From the inbox you can request a Private Show or Cam2Cam and nobody else spies. That’s the closer cam-to-cam on this site. Starts as a message, not a button under a public feed.

Then there’s the tax I actually feel. I watch someone for forty minutes. They go offline. I’d want to say one filthy specific thing about what they just did. If you’re not Gold, you get three winks a day. Upsell chrome’s also talked about two conversations in the last twenty-four hours. Gold DMs anyone and skips the wink. The hang is free. The after-text is not.

Watching

Guests can watch. Anonymous can watch. Most of a night’s still free chat with a tip jar nobody has to touch. I’ve come in rooms where the only money that moved was someone else sending a cheap gift for the sound. Allowed. That’s the design.

Make the free account if you want a name in the chat, a friends list, country blocks, two-factor over SMS and email. None of that costs tokens. You can’t see OPS until you’ve got the account. Then the grid grows a booking layer you didn’t know you were missing.

Buy Tokens from Payments in the account if you actually want to spend. 1-Click Checkout’s optional. Processors they name: Epoch, Segpay, DialXS, Commdoo. Gift cards have their own help article. They don’t publish the viewer pack prices.

Gold‘s the paid membership. Card subscription through those same processors, or 125 tokens. You cancel through the processor portals — Epoch, Segpay, and DialXS URLs are published for that. Charges show up as GRANITY ENTERTAINMENT if you care about the statement. What Gold actually changes while you watch: unlimited conversations, no wink tax, a stealth tip so your name doesn’t fire on the bar, Theater Mode, multicam, translation, Peek, password rooms, ad-free, the exclusive daily Gold Show. If you want to watch someone fuck and not be the name that just tipped, stealth’s the feature. If you want to DM a body you saw three hours ago, Gold‘s the inbox. They pitch it as over twenty enhanced features. The ones I notice are the ones that keep the hang going after the stream dies.

Fan Club is per performer. Monthly. Badge in chat. Fan-only galleries. It’s not Gold. You can be Gold and in nobody’s club. You can be in a club on a free account if you paid that one person. Same bold words in the room. Different products.

Lovense guides live in Features if you’re the kind of viewer who wants the toy to jump when the tip lands. I’m sometimes that viewer. More often I just stay in public chat. Person on camera’s talking. I’m already hard.

Broadcasting

Official getting-started path’s four steps. Create a free account. Verify email. Finish the Profile Completion Wizard. Broadcast. Wizard wants ID documents, a profile photo, a bio, a tip menu, niches, and a payment method.

The models site shortens the pitch. Username and email. Set privacy — block countries and states if you want. Broadcast to verify your age and start the first show. Face not required. They put it in a cheerful sentence and I keep quoting it because that’s the whole cultural tell.

ID’s required in the wizard. Getting Paid lists what Paxum wants. Passport, national ID, or a driver’s license plus proof of address by region. Tools once you’re live: Broadcaster Dashboard, the C4 Broadcaster app, OBS guides, tip sounds, the Token Holder Indicator, a private test broadcast, a signal indicator. Moderators you appoint can ban, mod, and friend. Long-press on mobile to set a mod.

Off-platform pay’s forbidden. Getting-started third-party policy spells it out. Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok, Bluesky, and Facebook can be linked. No Telegram, no WhatsApp, no Discord, no OnlyFans, no Fansly, no Linktree, no PayPal, no crypto. All payments have to go through CAM4. That’s their sentence. They mean it.

Coaching’s on the models site. Award-winning coaches, start with free coaching, sessions mentioned as Tuesday and Thursday. Support’s 24/7 live chat in eight languages. Some broadcasting articles list [email protected]. Payment questions go to [email protected]. You can sit there with no face and a tip menu and let the chat decide if tonight’s a hangout or a paid show. I’ve watched both happen in the same hour.

Money

Cashout lives in the Broadcaster Dashboard.

Recruitment copy on the models site, the line they want remembered: CAM4 never takes a cut of the earnings you make in your room. Keep 100% of your tokens. Official language. Slogan about tokens in the room. Not a published USD take-rate. And it doesn’t tell you what a viewer paid for the tokens that just landed. Their claim.

The 12 August 2015 official performers blog said 10 Tokens = $1 USD. That’s 2015. I’m not treating it as what they cash out now. Current Getting Paid FAQ’s got a different number going the other way. Cash-to-tokens. Minimum payment $0.10. 100 tokens = $10.00. Payment immediate. That’s earnings converted into spendable tokens on the site. Not what a viewer pays for a pack.

Payout floor’s published. Minimum Payment: $50.00 USD. Direct deposit, Paxum, the usual list sit on that floor. You don’t cash out under fifty. Models site pitch is Get Fast Daily Payouts. Getting Paid says payments are now processed daily, Monday through Friday, for some methods, including Canadian direct deposit. Some U.S. direct deposit is weekly Friday if you request by Tuesday 23:59 EST.

Referral and a start bonus get a mention on the models homepage. Extra money for referring friends. A possible cash bonus for getting started. Amounts aren’t on that page. EU performers have DAC7 in Getting Paid. You supply a TIN and identity or you don’t get paid. That’s been in since January 2025.

MyShop, social-media earnings, and Fanclub show up as named calculator lines on cam4models. Named. Not priced.

Recording and chat

Public chat’s the loud one. Messenger’s the inbox. Password private rooms are Gold, and they’re not on the C4 Broadcaster app. Quietest published show they offer: a password, a Gold performer, people who were handed the door.

If you’re on camera doing sex in a free stream, treat it as filmed. Online Safety has an article about a show getting recorded and uploaded. Unauthorized recording. Known issue. They address it. I don’t have a cute workaround. Public’s public. Face-optional culture helps some people. Doesn’t make a leak less of a leak.

Chat tools for performers are the usual blunt ones. Ban, mod, friend. Gold viewers get stealth tips and translation. If you’re not Gold, you get the wink wall when you try to keep talking after the lamp goes off. I’ve hit that wall. I’ve also just stayed in the next public room, because on this site there’s usually another lamp still on.

History

Wikipedia: launched June 2007, originated in France. Official footers still read Tropistream Corporation NV, 2007–2026. No older consumer name.

Wikipedia also logs later toys and noise if you want the timeline. Cam4VR in 2016, a Kiiroo tie-in in 2017, an XBIZ mention in 2015, a Wired write-up of a 2020 Elasticsearch incident. Encyclopedia notes. Not a product tour.

The bet hasn’t really changed since 2007. Go live. Leave the light on. Tokens can stay optional. Face can stay optional. I’d still sit there to get off. That’s why I keep opening Cam4.
