Closing a cam account does not guarantee that every associated record disappears with it. The six platforms reviewed describe retaining some information after deletion or closure: some for weeks, some for a decade, and some indefinitely. What persists, and why, differs considerably across platforms.
This article covers what six platforms (Chaturbate, Stripchat, LiveJasmin, CAM4, MyFreeCams, and BongaCams) state in their public policies about post-deletion data retention, what your formal rights are, and what falls outside cam-site control entirely.
Deactivation is not deletion
Before getting into platform specifics, one distinction matters: deactivating an account and deleting it are not the same operation. Chaturbate explicitly maintains separate tools for each. Most other platforms do not publicly distinguish the two processes, but the assumption that “closing your account” is synonymous with “deleting your data” is worth questioning on any site.
What each platform retains
Chaturbate
Chaturbate has the most detailed public documentation of its deletion process.
When you delete an account, the username is retained. Chaturbate’s privacy policy says this explicitly, citing impersonation and abuse prevention. Any tokens, purchases, subscriptions, or content are forfeited at deletion.
Two categories of records persist regardless of deletion requests. First, records required under 18 U.S.C. § 2257 (the U.S. federal law that requires adult content platforms to maintain performer age-verification records) are not subject to user deletion requests. Second, fraud prevention data including IP addresses and device fingerprints is retained indefinitely.
For accounts that held broadcaster status, age verification documents and biometric data are kept for seven years from the date that content was last publicly available.
If an account was under restriction at the time of deletion, the policy states the restriction status may be converted to a permanent ban with minimal records retained.
No general retention schedule for non-AV, non-fraud user data is published.

Stripchat
Stripchat offers the most direct deletion promise here. Its privacy policy states that account deletion removes all data and that “none of the information… will have been saved.” A new account would require starting from scratch.
The policy includes a formal right to erasure under GDPR (the General Data Protection Regulation, which governs data rights for people in the European Economic Area). That right comes with acknowledged exceptions: data required for legal obligations and potential legal claims may be retained longer, and no specific retention periods are given for those exceptions.
One important carve-out involves purchased recorded shows. Stripchat’s terms state that recordings purchased by a viewer remain available to that buyer even if the model later deletes their own account. What happens to a viewer’s purchased recordings if the viewer deletes their account is not explicitly addressed.
Username retention post-deletion is not documented.

LiveJasmin
LiveJasmin provides the most specific retention periods of the six platforms and is the clearest about which data categories persist and for how long.
Deletion is initiated through a “Forget My Data” option in Privacy Settings. The platform states this erases personal information, with carve-outs for legally required and business-required data.
Specific periods documented in the policy:
- Chat logs and log data: retained for a maximum of 120 days from the last purchase date.
- Financial data: retained for 10 years, tied to Luxembourg legislation applicable to Docler Holding, the company that operates LiveJasmin.
- Residual backup copies: purged within 30 days.
- Guest data (visitors without an account): retained for no more than 10 to 15 days.
LiveJasmin also states that former usernames are blacklisted for an unspecified period after account closure.

CAM4
CAM4’s privacy policy states that all personal data is deleted when an account is terminated or expires, with an exception for data subject to legal obligations.
The policy also notes that if a user declines consent to data processing, CAM4 is obligated to delete the data and that this action cannot be reversed. No specific retention periods are given for any category; the policy states only that the platform “will not retain data longer than necessary.”

MyFreeCams
Account deletion on MyFreeCams is available via an email link or a link in the Members Area. Upon deletion, the platform sends a final confirmation and states it will not contact the user again.
No retention periods are specified. This matters because MyFreeCams’ privacy policy was last updated in 2006, more than a decade before GDPR (2018) or the CCPA (2020) came into effect. The policy does not include a GDPR section, does not address data retention in terms modern privacy frameworks require, and does not clarify what happens to usernames or specific data categories after deletion.
The simplicity of the deletion language should not be read as a stronger guarantee than more detailed policies elsewhere. It reflects an older document that simply does not address these questions.

BongaCams
BongaCams allows users to cancel their account to oppose data processing. The platform’s terms state that users can request a copy of their personal data and request correction of inaccurate data.
Chat logs are retained for a “limited period” under what the terms call an ASP (adult service provider) arrangement, but no specific duration is given. No general retention schedule is published for other categories.
For viewers who purchased private show recordings: recordings are available while the model’s profile is active. If the model deletes their profile, those recordings become unavailable. What happens to a viewer’s purchased recordings when the viewer deletes their own account is not specified.
Username retention post-deletion is not documented.

Payment records are outside cam-site control
Deleting your account on a cam site does not delete records held by the payment processor that handled your transactions. Payment processors are independent companies operating under their own data retention obligations, which commonly include multi-year requirements under banking and financial regulations.
The cam site’s privacy policy governs what that cam site retains. What the processor keeps (transaction amounts, dates, and billing references) is outside the cam platform’s control once the transaction is complete. This research did not identify any cam site policy that claims to delete or influence payment processor records upon account deletion.
If clearing processor records matters to you, the relevant party is the payment processor, not the cam site. The processor’s name typically appears on your billing statement or can be confirmed with your bank.
GDPR, CCPA, and what formal rights actually deliver
GDPR’s right to erasure (Article 17) is available to residents of the European Economic Area. It applies across Stripchat, LiveJasmin, CAM4, and BongaCams based on their stated policies. It is not a universal deletion guarantee. Platforms may lawfully decline or defer erasure where data is needed to comply with a legal obligation, to establish or defend a legal claim, or for other legitimate interests the regulation enumerates.
CCPA rights, applicable to California residents, are available via Chaturbate and include the right to know what is collected and the right to request deletion, with analogous legal-compliance exceptions.
MyFreeCams’ 2006 policy contains no GDPR or CCPA section.
Submitting a formal erasure or deletion request under GDPR or CCPA is a stronger mechanism than clicking a delete-account button in settings. It requires the platform to acknowledge the request, respond within a regulated deadline, and document any exceptions applied. It also creates a record of the request.
Sources and methodology
Research method: All claims were drawn from official platform privacy policies, terms of service, and help documentation using passive web extraction. No test accounts were created, no transactions were made, and no account deletion was performed. Sources were accessed on 2026-08-01.
Limitation: This research describes what each platform states in its public documentation. The gap between stated policy and actual behavior cannot be verified without controlled deletion testing, which was outside scope. Where platforms do not address a question (username retention, specific retention periods), that silence is noted as unknown rather than inferred.
